You got that right, Vic.
The only reason they get away with this is because, while people bitch, they continue to use Microsoft's products regardless. If all you do is grumble when I steal money from your wallet, then I'm going to keep doing it.
I'm sure this won't be a popular position for me to express, but if people fail to react when a company inappropriately interferes with their rights, then maybe those people don't deserve those rights.
At this point the only reason to continue to use MS products is because of the inconvenience of switching to another operating system -- and the accompanying fear of the unknown. Mint, Ubuntu, Manjaro, Zorin, etc. -- they're all fine operating systems, and they're all free.
The ONLY thing that has any chance of creating a climate where Microsoft begins to respect the individual rights of computer users is if more people do what I have done, which is to refuse to use their staggeringly anti-consumer products.
Stop bitching and switch to an alternative.
